Default soft top replacment cost

Im looking at a used s2000 with tears in the softtop, just wondering how much it would cost to replace it? is it a DIY job, if not do I have to go to a honda dealership? and how can I keep them from leaking untill I buy a new top?

It can be done yourself, but I have a personal horror story in the matter, and I hear more horror stories than successes

The top can be patched fairly easily so long as the tears aren't terrible. I'd say any tear 3" or less is fixable.

You can buy some patches.

People usually have some for sale
I'd take it to a dealer but that's just me.
From the DIY write ups I've seen, it's gonna take a full day to do.

Good luck

Nope. My Honda dealership actually sends top work out to an upholstery shop.

Check out the existing top repair/replacement threads.

Yeah, alot of threads on the topic already. If you want to buy an OEM top, it will get pricey. Best bet is to buy a Robbins or EZ Top and take it to a specialty place to get it installed, ~$1k for the top and who knows on labor. There are DIYs and it is something you can do (with the help of another person), but it can be tedious and difficult.

As stated, if the tears are small, patch them up. I plan on replacing my top on my own in a few years...I should have the courage built up by then .

Good luck!

I've seen DIYs on soft top replacement and half way through reading all I could think was "f**k that." Seriously, it looks amazingly daunting and tedious; and I'm pretty mechanically inclined. It's just one of those things I'd happily pay someone else to do.

I wrote a DIY in the UTH section. Some of the other DIYs make it look more daunting than it really is, and mine is pretty comprehensive.

I did it myself, and it really isn't hard. It just takes 8 hours...anywhere between $600 and $1200 in labor depending on where you live.

I did my OEM top for just over $700 in parts.
