Default soft top wouldn't fold all the way down

for those who have added sub woofer carpet at the hinge that tears the soft top, does ur top fold down all the way? i noticed that mine doesn't after adding the carpet onto the hinge. i have to manually push the top while holding the top down button in order to get it all the way down.

I imagine the stuff you have used is either too thick or too tight.

That picture is of my car when I came up with the fix a couple of years ago and my roof folds just fine.

hey thanks for ur quick reply, i followed all ur steps into doing this. i cut out exactly the size u mentioned and i wrapped it around the straight bar tightly and slowly slide it up to the hinge. how tight did u wrap ur carpet? i think i wrapped mine pretty tightly and i'm sure the material i am using isn't too thick.

I can only suggest you remove them and see if it cures the folding problem.
If it does revise your design.

The cloth I used is quite thin and stretchy, perhaps yours is a heavier weight or you have wrapped it too tightly. Try it again with a bit more room around the elbow

The top clearances are tight an any material added has the potential cause a bind. I used a small thin piece of vinal to reinforce the wear spot, and filed off the rough edge that was cutting the top. I suggest removing your material to see if it fixes the problem. If you don't want to remove your stuff, you might try using some silicone spray lube to make the surfaces slide more easily.

Actually .. you don't need that subwoofer carpet

That black patch you have on the soft top is sufficient to protect the top ...

Heel and toe downshifting, unless I'm very much mistaken.

actually that picture isnt mine. i don't have the black patch and i don't really wanna stick anything to the soft top. i re did the sub woofer carpet this time a bit loose and i think the cold weather might have an effect on it not folding properly. i guess i'll wait till summer and see if theres still a problem. if so i might try a different material.
