Default some F*cker put a hole in my window

Looks like someone leaned on it and dug their fingers into the plastic until they popped thru it. Then they tried to stretch it open.

Can the window be replaced? Anyone had it done in Socal? I called a few dealers and they were all clueless on what to do. One was able to give me a price (around 247) but no advice on where or how to replace it.

Not trying to be a smartass with the usual snippy reply, but I think if you'll try a search there are a couple of threads on this from when people had them replaced for fogging issues. I believe that its a bit involved; there were a couple of rivets that have to come out and get put back.

That must have been one beefy person that put their finger through the plastic. Isn't that stuff kind of thick? I have a hard enough time getting my finger through the seal of a peanut butter jar.

What does your insurance company say about it?

Sorry to hear about your baby being violated Joe. Never ending supply of head's like that on this planet.
You might consider converting to glass. There's a "how to" concerning this in the library.

This is getting interesting. I read everything i could find on s2ki and am throughly convinced not to try it myself. My deductable is $500, which i've pretty much resigned to paying simple to get the car fixed asap. Called 3 dealers. One transfered me to the body shop (not part of their dealership) who then transferred me back to the dealer. One transfered me to parts who quoted me the 247, then said good luck, maybe try Kennys upholstery repair (?!?!). The third said, we have done this before but the guy who knows how to do it is out till tomorrow.

So I am calling back tomorrow.
Insurance will look at it tomorrow (21st century) also.

I'm headed on a road trip on thursday tho. Probably with a hole in my window. ack, i hope it doesn't rain. I sooo totally do NOT want to duct tape it! ghetto stylez!!!

The car was parked in downtown LA at the Good Samaritan Hospital. I didn't know I was gonna be there 7 hours (till 4am.. gf got mighty sick). When I parked there were cars all around. When I came out. just my car, not a scratch on it, but a hole in the window, and you could see the palm marks where the hands were pressing. Easily could have been stabbed and then fingers inserted to try to stretch it open. Thats probably more likely. Maybe some drunk guy that thought it would be an easy break in? i dunno.. its just weird.

If you do have to tape it, you could get a sheet of plastic and tape that on under the soft top flap around the window, would look a little less ghetto but it may limit visibility out the rear.

Take a look at http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto/j...=SOFT+TOP+CLOTH for parts info.

i have a hole in my window too. the dealer said that the plastic window is about $250, and then they send it out to an upholstery shop for them to do the work. the installation fee was like $500, so the total was around $750...this was at honda world westminster. they said that they tried to replace just the window once at the dealership, but it was a mess...so thats why they send them out to upholstery shops.

since i've always wanted to switch to the 2002 soft top with glass, i decided that i am going to just buy the complete top for around $800 and install it myself....

If you get the plastic replaced, you may want to consider having window tint put on the window at that time. Better yet, if you can find some "clear" window tint. That way, your window would be protected from scratches for a while.
