Some random things I noticed with my S.
I have teins on my hood as well. I find if I just push the hood down past the point where the teins push it up, it will start falling at the right height all by itself.
If you have to drop your hood at an extremely high point, then you might want to try and lower your hood bumpers that are on either side of the front of the car. Also, check how your hood lines up. Maybe a previous owner or a loose bolt caused the catch to lower itself. It might need to be raised or realligned.
