I've got a black S2k, and live in that general area. No, I don't make eye contact as a general rule with other drivers. Too much road rage, and I wasn't given a psyc test before buying my car, so I can't be sure some road ragest doesn't have one either.
I notice a lot of ricer guys waving at me but I've found if I acknowledge them, they begin driving in an unsafe mannor. *grin*

I live in Nashville and I have noticed that the folks here aren't really into their S2000's. The ones I see are always dirty and their paint looks like it needs a good waxin'. I've seen several around here at cheap pre wrecked used car dealerships and everything. It won't be long before the ricers get their hands on this car, then it will be all over.

The first month I had my S, I waved at every other S driver I saw. Now, unfortunately, I no longer do so. I did not get a SINGLE wave back. After awhile, you begin to feel like an ass. It's kind of like that feeling you get when someone you don't know waves at you, you wave back, and then somebody that was standing behind you walks past you and says "HI!! Long time no see...!", and gives him/her a hug.

Maybe it's just because I'm in L.A., where Bimmer's and pretense seems to rule. (Don't me on the BMW reference - I love the mark, but it seems to me that far too many BMW drivers here in L.A. have them simply because of the 'status' of the logo) - I guess to a lot of people is just not cool to show that kind of familiarity.

Then again, maybe I'll start waving again. I told myself I would never hold doors open for people anymore after a particularly bad errand day, where literally not a single person said thanks after I held the door open as I entered. That same day, a person skirted by me and let a door fly in my face as I was debating how best to open it with 2 cups of coffee in hand...

Thing is, I still do hold open doors... I must be a glutton for punishment...

Why does owning the same stuff mean we have to be best friends? We all have TVs and refrigerators too.

Did you buy an S2000 so that you could be part of a club?

sokitset - I see your point, but...

It seems to me that if you took the time to set up a username in s2ki.com, are participating in this forum, and responded to this thread in particular - you must be somewhat interested in what other S2000 drivers are doing or what they have to say. Isn't this a 'club' of sorts? I didn't buy my S for any other reason than I loved the car from the first time I saw it. That being said - what with it's limited production, the fact that you don't see them THAT often - why not say 'hey' to a fellow s driver. If I drove the ever ubiquitous Camaro, et al., I certainly wouldn't.

Some people are private like that. Some people are more outgoing. Just different personalities.

I usually don't initiate waving for the fear of awkwardness of not-being-waved back and start "hating" the person I don't even know. But that's just me. Never because I'm a stuck up person or anything. People seem to have different tolerance for those "awkward" moments. And this is not necessarily a bad thing.
