I know of a car that had it's window smashed out only to have a kleenex box stolen, nothing else. We figured someone must have to take a dump and needed some wipes.

They may have been looking under the hood for aftermarket parts , most likely an intake system, hard to say.

Still think your best option is to fight for original.... then make your best deal, pay the difference and you won't regret it.

Sorry to hear man... But your insurance should cover it.... Mine did. Samething happened to me and i was lucky that they didnt take anything and wherent able to actually get in the car cause they really tried... And i made the mistake of leaving my camera and sun glasses on my front seat... Which is what i think they wanted. They even bent and ruined my passenger side door handle which was also covered in the ins claim but Im thinking the scum thiefs got scared away and ran off since i was parked on a busy street. Hopefully everything works out for you bro

At least you still have your seats. When my car was broken into last year, they took my seats, shift knob, intake(PRM), battery, and pryed at the gauge cluster bezel to try to get the cluster, too. You got lucky.
