This happened to me, I caught up to someone and passed them, they proceeded to high beam me in my rearview , I had the top up so I just flipped the mirror and with my tinted rear window it didn't really bother me.

I don't remember how he got ahead of me again, so I got him back, not for long but I did show him I have even brighter lights

A few weeks ago, on some deserted dark roads EVERY car was flashing me. I never drive with my brights as I don't feel they are worth the hassel of turning them off when cars approach because the HIDS are bright enough....

So, what I did was drive with my brights on, when a car got close enough I would turn them off.

Only a couple still flashed me but most got the point that obviously I didn't have them on.

I had a few flash me, then when I turned my brights on they QUICKLY turned off theirs, probably thinking OMG I'M BLIND!

The people who think you have your brights on probably have sensitive eyes/problems with lights at night already. But if they really can't take the lights, they are probably not 100% safe to be driving on the road at night.
I love the way the beam cuts into the trees on the side of the road when it's really dark. Especially when you hits some bumps and can see the line of light bounce. Also, have you ever noticed how easy it is to see deer on the side of the road with these things? I've spotted deer without even looking for them, in times when I wouldn't have been able to see them if I'd tried with regular lights.

whenever i flash my high beams to show oncoming traffic that flashes me that my HIDs are NOT my high beams, they just keep flashing me? I don't get it. Wouldnt they realize that by hitting my high beams that I had my low beams on? I wish I could adjust my high beams so they absolutely BLIND oncoming traffic..hmm maybe if I point them higher? Or maybe they can shoot out water ballons filled with piss...im sick

Change your high beam bulb to some PIAA Super White bulbs then flash them, that should really blind them.
Hey Mav which ones do you recommend because I get flashed from time to time and I think the brights in the S are kind of weak.

This isn't S related, but I'd thought I'd share. I use to have a '97 Wrangler that people flashed me for all the time when I had my regular lights on. Eventually, I got the KC Daylighters for the front bumper. I had my finger on the button every time someone rounded the curb with their lights on and if they flashed me, man it was like a supernova when I switched mine on. That settled them down real fast.

As far as the S goes, I've had problems with that too. On level pavement, you shouldn't be blinding people though. The line on the HID's should be just high enought to illuminate their bumper, but not go past the hood line. You can lower them down if they're too high and probably save you alot of aggrivation.

I agree with the above quote. In fact, I think the "line of sight bounce" is what may be creating the problem for most of us.

Last week, I had some repairs done to another vehicle I own. My girlfriend dropped me off at the service station then follow behind me in the S. The "line of sight bounce" from the S2K's headlights was very annoying! If I didn't know better, I would swear she was constantly flicking the high beams at me. I now understand other drivers' frustration.

Huy-

I don't think we're talking about the same guy. This guy was balding, 40ish and had two child seats and a "keep Tahoe blue" sticker on the bumper. So, unless Jr. is a Marine Sniper w/ that paint gun...

I'm glad that I'm not the only one out there with this problem. I don't think my lights are out of alignment (too high), but I'll check just in case. Actually, I sometimes feel that HIDs are too bright when directed at me (especially if its an SUV where the beams just wash across my entire front dash) so I am sympathetic to other drivers. And I definitely am not seeking to intentionally blind others (Okay, maybe Camaro Z-28 SS drivers, but that's another story...).

I installed a set of these... PIAA Xtreme White Plus H1 Bulbs. They have a whitish blue glow, pretty close to our HID color and very bright.

So when when ignorant assholes throw their brights on me (happens to me rarely though since most people in Miami have HIDs on their cars), I blind them with these. Guaranteed to cause an accident or two.

The last time some guy flashed me with his high beams, I flicked on my PIAA high beams and he rear ended the car in front of him. J/K

In all serious, I don't think this is a major issue for the S2000. The real problem is trucks and SUVs with HIDs. I wish I could do something about the HIDs in my X5. I like having HIDs but there should be a way to lessen the brightness, especially in trucks and SUVs.
