Showing interest here too.

I don't mind the stock exhaust and engine noise all that much, but the road noise reduction and quieter interior would be great!

I've compared an Amuse system to stock, and both were about the same at full throttle in first and crusing at 70. The difference is that the Amuse has a huge resonance at 4k, and when the throttle is mashed at any speed the roar is very loud. The factory has been better at keeping the noise more even across the board. That said, the quality of sound, even at the same SPL, is much better with the stock system. The trunk is posing some problems. To get significant reduction in noise, it will require the use of a damped layer system, and the material weighs 1.20 pounds per square foot. The trunk area needs about 25 square feet. Ouch! With the spaare out, it may not be that big of an issue. I'll be testing more materials after next week. The sound engineers I've been working with think where I am now is pretty good, but I think there is more to be gained. Stay tuned, and thanks for the interest.

I'd be interested in a kit / plans / photos to do this. I'm currently running a HKS muffler, and the noise levels are high. Chipperman, save me from myself

I would be interested in a kit as well. The car is great -- but after an hour on the road with the top up it gets to you! Any help would be appreciated.

Hey chipperman,
Any update on the status of this kit? How's it coming along?

You mentioned you were looking for a reduction of 10 decibels. What decible ranges does the S have with the top up?

I look forward to hearing about this kit!

I can't remember for sure, but had tested before I did any insulation and got around 85 db on A scale.

Is there a way this soundproofing thread could be added to an FAQ or guide somewhere?
