Specialty S2000 Cover
Hello Everyone,
New member here ... long time reader and enthusiast! As my handle indicates, I will be placing my order real soon for an '04 Silverstone ... however, I've been doing lots of homework ... one of the items I was trying to research was a specialty car cover that a friend said he was able to find that also protected the doors from dings in public garages as well. He had a German M series roadster, shall we say ... I have been perusing the site here but have yet to come up with anything protecting doors as well. Something with a little padding. Since many of you are "S2000 Experts", I thought I would cut to the chase and put it out to you all. Your input is appreciated and valued. Kudos to you all and this site ... the best I've seen regarding the "S".

Welcome aboard!
I'm not sure about a speciality cover that protects the doors (not saying they don't exist) but you could but the OEM car cover and line the inside sides with some neoprine, should give you a little padding.

Not sure about speciality car covers, but my OEM one works great. Despite it's felt lining and durable material, I don't think it would protect the car from door dings that have just a little bit more than average impact.
How about this. Purchase some large 4"x4" pieces of styrofoam in lengths up to the 10-12' in length. Purchase some self adhesive pieces of velcro from a craft or similar store, and cut into small pieces. Stick one side of the velcro to the cover along the length of the car, and the other piece of velcro to corresponding spots on the styrofoam. Next, cover car, and attach styrofoam to car cover. Hey presto- no more door dings!
I admit, I have never tried this method, and in fact, conjured it up while sitting here. Seems fool proof nonetheless

Just checked H and A Accessories and they list the cover for $166.80 (see below)

www.hardtopguy.com is another site worth checking out. From what I have read, they are a great company to conduct business with, with exceptional prices. A good idea IMO to support a site sponsor to boot.
Good luck!

I just bought a cover from handa, should arrive any day.
Question: If there are heavy winds, and I don't have a garage for my car, should I use the car cover? It seems like dust will still get up under it and then the cover move under the wind and rub the dust into the paint. Maybe it's better to go without?

The Honda OEM cover is fairly heavy, and once secured in place should not flap around all that much. That said, heavy winds coupled with blowing dust may result in the problems you mentioned above, albeit in a minimal way. Perhaps if you secure the cover using a cable lock of sorts using the eyes built into it, that will discourage the wind buffeting in and underneath the cover.
If it were me, I would cover the car for the winter despite the concerns you have. 3-6 months of sitting idle, coupled with bird poop, acid in the rain, UV rays and other environmental factors will do much more damage to your car than fine scratch marks from the cover than can easily be Zaino'd out come Spring.

I just got th OEM cover last week to use for this winter to keep the dust off the car while in the garage. I also have painters that started to work this week to prime the outside of my house and they will finish painting this spring. Better some overspray on the cover than the car. The maker of the cover sells a cable lock kit to prevent the cover blowing off in the wind for around 10 dollars. The paper work came with the cover. This company must make these covers for Honda. I paid 139 dollars (supposed to be dealers cost) negotiated at the time of the purchase of my car.

They make awesome custom-fit covers, with a variety of fabrics and materials so you can find one best-suited for you. (Outdoors, indoors, stormweave, Noah, etc.) - and you can customize it to your tastes. Body kit? Have them add an inch or two. I prefer my covers to be logoless as not to do any advertising - no problemo. Great prices too.

All of these are fine suggestions ... I was thinking more along the lines of a cover that covers primarily the top with extensions that protects the doors, if possible. That may look a bit less attractive than a full blown cover, with or without some kind of protection. However, it would be more practical to use every day, particularly if one has to park downtown every day in those crowded lots. They do exist somewhere, just not necessarily for the "S".
