Default speeding ticket

I have a california license and got a speeding ticket in Nevada. Was wondering if i need to take traffic school. Heard if you get a out of state ticket doesn't go on your record/points toward you. Someone tell me if this is true.

It'll go on your record, no free ride just because you're out of state. If that was the case, I'd be doing 100+ mph every time left MA.

Actually it depends on the state. Most states have agreements with other states to transfer points/records, but there are a few that still don't. You'll have to check with your DMV to find out.

Years ago I got a ticket out of state. I was told that state and my state had a reciprocal agreement. I paid the fine immediately without contesting it and it never appeared on my record.

sometimes small courts work for you Explain to the judge that you made a mistake and then beg the court for mercy. BTW, don't mention you live in The People's Republic of California, rather, say you just moved here.

Well, Johnny Boy, we all want to know. How fast were you doing, anyway?

Right...lie to the judge. That's always the best way to go. You might even get jail time!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Driver_License_Agreement

There are some links in the text that describe the various different agreements between the states, and then a Member States link for each page. Looks like most states are in both major agreements.

In Illinois if you get an out of state ticket they are just "OK" at finding out about it. It make take months, but it can eventually catch up with you.

However, I once got two tickets, months apart, each in a different County and they didn't tell each other. Go figure.
