Man, Im a little ticked. I just got a spider web crack on my windshield driving home from the 22 to 57 freeway 30 minutes ago. Some civic in front of me tossed up the chunk of something. The crack is on the middle top of the windshield where the black paint covers the borders. However, some of the spider web crack moved towards the clear area. The center of the crack has a diamond looking damage. I checked the exterior of the windshield to see if it can be repaired, but the crack seem to have spread in between the windshield. I was thinking of getting those windshield repair things but it may not work in this case.

I don't want to replace my original windshield. Once they take this one off, im sure it will not be the same anymore especially the rubber seals around not to mention the high cost. Anyone know how much a factory s2000 windshield cost? Any suggestions what to do to repair or replace this damage?

Not sure exactly how uch it will cost, but I have to replace mine also. 1 week after I got mine, a truck kicked up a rock and chipped mine. Mine is starting to spread with the cold weather now too. Can Honda replace the window themselves? That way you know it will be done right.

I saw other people posting replacment windshields by PPG.

For the people who has the PPG windshield, does the PPG windshield have the black paint around the perimeter.

I got mine priced out as I have a crack on mine as well that can't be repaired. Quotes have been between $400-500. They say the molding around the windshield is $100 on it's own.

Yeah, it's a bummer.

Can Honda replace the window themselves?
My experience is that dealerships don't replace glass - they have glass shops do it.

not to mention the high cost
Most insurance policies cover windshield replacement or repair at low cost to you, since poor visibility affects safety and future cost to them.

Try this:

http://wefixwindshields.com/california/Los...epair/index.htm

95% of the crack in my windshield disappeared after they repaired it. The key is to keep dirt from getting into it before they can repair it--the cleaner, the better. Put Scotch tape over it until they can look at it...

The insurance companies will pay for winshield REPAIR but not REPLACEMENT. Kind of makes you wonder why they can't REPAIR the windshield by replacing the bad one.
