BINGO!! This is no doubt what caused your problem. Traction sucks at that temperature, and it takes the tires a LONG time to warm up enough to work well. If it gets that cold every day, you might want to consider different tires for winter use. If you stick with the OEM tires, you will just have to be VERY CAREFUL when it's cold out.
