Well, you could choose to be less antagonistic. If you asked nicely and promised to not be a jerk, they'd probably let you sign up for a proper membership under "probation."
I'd support that.

I got excited there for a minute, I though you meant like this:

There should also be one class session where the students spend a Friday night in the local emergency room.

BINGO!! This is no doubt what caused your problem. Traction sucks at that temperature, and it takes the tires a LONG time to warm up enough to work well. If it gets that cold every day, you might want to consider different tires for winter use. If you stick with the OEM tires, you will just have to be VERY CAREFUL when it's cold out.

There are many spins at autoX's. As Mike said, 'when you spin, both feet in' is a good rule to go by.

Then again, you shouldn't be "in doubt" when pushing an S2000 hard.

It also worries me seeing new people spinning because they don't know about the importance of having some heat in their tires. Better to avoid an unplanned spin in the first place, than to deal with it well after the fact.
Just to be clear, "in a spin" means that you are in an uncorrectable spin. Don't just jam on the brakes as soon as the tail swings out, unless you have no chance of regaining control. As long as there is a chance of getting the car straightened back out (without making things worse) you don't want to get off the throttle suddenly, hit the brakes, or clutch in, because until the spin is a given, there is still doubt. Once you have lost it, then getting the clutch in and the brakes full on is almost always the best course of action. Of course if that action has you heading directly for a telephone pole or other object, you might want to try something else. What that something else might be would depend on the situation, and once you've lost control, there's a chance that hitting something will be unavoidable (I'm assuming here that it happens on the street, where there are so many things to hit). The main thing is to keep thinking and looking where you are heading, so you can take whatever actions you can to minimize the damages. If it is not clear that there is a better course of action, then "both feet in" should probably be the rule you follow, when actually "in a spin."
