Spoon Pressure Plate Review
I recently had my new clutch installed (oem disc and t.o. bearing, spoon pressure plate) and it's awesome. Clutch pedal feels like stock but it grabs hard and the engagment is nice and low. My first autocross with the car and it was chirping the tires from 1->2 shifting normally... huge change from the pathetic oem setup w/ 44k miles that came with the car. The clutch grabs immediately with no bog or delay which is especially noticeable in the upper RPMs, whereas my old clutch would sit there for a second before the RPMs would start to climb after a shift.
A quote from my codriver who's also a member of s2ki:
Paid $450 for the pressure plate, and $200 for the disc and t.o. bearing. Another nice thing about the spoon pressure plate is that is looks exactly like OEM pressure plate (it's actually a reworked unit, still has Honda stamped on it with no other spoon markings). Honda installed it without a gripe which would not have been possible around here with anything aftermarket. I took it out of the spoon box and wrote the Honda part number for the oem pressure plate on the bag. Total labor was $712 with the flywheel resurfaced and all.
I definately recommend it to anyone looking for more clamping power without an increase in pedal effort. I think the increase in clamping force is somewhere in the 25-33% range.

Dustin's car is awesome. It had the strongest clutch I've ever felt in an S2000, and made me realize how much time I've been losing off the line with my clutch.

We usually run a local class called STS2K, which is basically AS/BSP S2000's on street tires. I did fairly well, much better than any recent events. The top 5 S2000s were all within a second or so of each other, and I think I placed 4th or 5th. I'm running a saner bar up front on full stiff (setup for r-compounds) so the car was understeering on street tires. I think with it on medium I would have done better. My codriver ran a 38.1 and I ran a 38.4. I think first was 37.4.
