The radio is totally useless!

I drove from L.A. to San Diego last weekend and had to turn off the stereo. I couldn't even hear myself thinking from all the wind noise coming through the top, and the exhaust noise coming from the rear.

Funny thing is I drove back with the top down and the noise level was pretty much the same as with the top up.

IMO it's a lot easier to trailer a track only car to events. Easier to carry all the stuff you might need, and no need to swap to street tires to get to and from the event. Why don't you just get a trailer and tow the thing?
Because I don't have a truck, trailers cost money, and mainly because the local track is less than five miles from my house. Trailer to it? I don't even bring tools, except for a torque wrench and a tire pressure gauge.

I did trailer my car last month for the first time. Borrowed a trailer and talked my dad into coming with me for a three-day trip to Spokane (approx 300 miles away). Dad has an F250. I would like to do that again, because it was fun to be there with my dad. I'll have to see if he thought it was fun enough, and maybe then I will buy a trailer.

Pressing a Start button is fun. Just don't require to insert a key as well. S2000 is one of the few cars where you still have to do both.

You've really got my curiosity up now. Did you buy the S2000 with the sole intent of using it as a club racer? Did you start out with a new car?

I'm just thinking that for what I have tied up in my S2000 I could easily build an all out Miata, buy a trailer and a cheap tow vehicle, and have enough left over to pay for a few events. Why did you choose the S2000 for your club racer?

I wish we lived five miles from a decent track. Which track are you near? What does it cost to rent the track for a day?

Why don't you come to Dixie with us this weekend and race your race car? Looks like at least 5 of us are going down so far.
Tripper has been after me to go too. He and Ryan will be there, but unless they decide to drive down the day before and spend the night closer to the event I'll probably pass.

I wanna try to get as many of the S2kI/A guys as I can to come to the next Mazda Zoom Zoom Live in Atlanta so we can all compete against each other in identical cars.

No, it has just evolved in that direction. The big decision happened last fall, when I decided I was pushing too hard to rely on the OEM safety systems any more. So the soft top came out and the custom roll bar was welded in. Everything else (seats, harnesses, airbag delete, HANS, stripping the rear interior, hardtop, etc.) followed from that decision.

ps. Did I say "a decent track"? No....

Pacific Raceways is fun and very technically challenging, but it's also not up to CA-type standards. Pavement is very old and very bumpy, runout is mostly non-existant, facilities are primitive, etc.

Now it all makes sense.

I'm not familiar with Pacific Raceway, but being close to ANY track is better than having to drive for two hours or more to get to every event. I'm jealous.
