The other day I went to have a resonator taken out of my custom HKS. The mechanic asked me for the keys to start it up. I told him you have put the keys in and the push the button. He was like, "kind of pointless isn't it" I told him I guess but I think its pretty cool and makes the car a little unique.

I like the pics of all the other car start buttons. It would be nice if we could start and stop ours like some of the newer vehicles. Maybe someday Honda will design this feature better.

It would be nice to have key recognition system on our car, even as an aftermarket.

Like mercedes, have a credit card size transpondent and it recognizes it and sends codes to the ecu immediately when you're in certain distance, then all you have to do is push the start button once you get into the car.

that would be cool.

I hate the key near my leg. sometimes it's annoying when I'm turning hard in the corner, since it makes clingking noise and I'm thinking it's something else.

1) The start button isn't a gimmick. Imagine if you were to stall on a track and the car shuts off. You would have to put the car in first, then take your hand and turn the key. This is two hand motions, meanwhile there are cars whizzing by you, not to mention you're trying to get around the track as fast as possible. The start button allows you to put the car back into first and restart the car in one swift motion. It was designed that way for a reason.
you can't start the car right away...if you stall on the track you have to put the car in gear and you would have to turn the key again (with right hand). Then you can start it with your left hand. The start button is useless.

you can start the car right away if the key is in the III spot.

I've done this before when I stalled out.

It wont start for a bit if you stall out because the motor lacking oil, not the start button.

Correct, also the clutch has to be on the floor.

But having to turn the key off and on would defeat the purpose certainly. Try it out before posting again.
