Just like a normal manual car. No clutch = no start.

one thing i noticed with my car...

when i first got it, when i pushed the start button it started almost instantly, kind of like when you hit the start button on a jet ski that is almost instantly running.

over time, that's gone away, and now pressing the start button just acts normal like any other key in an ignition.

hard to explain, but has anyone else experienced anything like this?

But you can definitely stall a car while it's running (running and moving not being the same thing).

not old at all. it's more like it was out of the ordinary exceptional before, and now it's just normal.

Car can't stall while its moving. If an engine quits while you are in motion, you've got a problem. Even an automatic will restart while in motion if you turn the key off and on, you just can't push start it.
Apparently you've never driven older cars, my first car ('83 Blazer S10) has an electrical problem that would make the engine randomly cut off (maybe twice a year), wasn't a problem since I could just turn the key and start it back up while moving, but if that wasn't possible, well then I would have been screwed.
