You must have got a wednesday car. Not even the EPA rates it that high.

Most people get 19 to 22 in the city with the S2000

check your tire pressure. 33-34 imo. your milege sounds kind of low to me as well. i find that the car won't really warm up until i start engaging the engine to the drivetrain.

I haven't checked the gas mileage on mine yet, but I've noticed that the gas gauge seems to move much faster than other cars I've owned. I thought most manufacturers used a non-linear gas gauge so that it moved more slowly at first so you felt like you were getting better mileage. But I can practically see the gauge move as I drive.

I have been diligently tracking all of my fuel usage, maintenance costs, etc. since the day I bought my S brand new off the lot in July '03. I love Excel.

Here's a few fun stats:
Total spent on fuel: $2,633.10
Total gallons purchased: 1,071.95 (almost exclusively Chevron, and always Supreme)
Avg. days between fillups: 7.53
Avg. miles between fillups: 223.7
Average MPG: 24.6
Average miles per dollar: 10.0
Average dollars per mile: $0.100
Average fuel price: $2.457
Average gallons per fill-up: 9.08

Most miles on a single tank of gas: 289.3
# of gallons to fill tank after 289.3 miles: 10.810gal

you should see my great charts, as well as the spreadsheet where I keep track of how much money I've saved by paying down my loan, how much my actual interest rate is working out to be, associated charts, etc.

p.s.-- if you could see my charts, you'd realize how DRAMATICALLY fuel prices have dropped in the last 3 months... practically at 1yr lows.

Where do you keep the fun to drive charts. For me the numbers don't matter. It's a great car that I need to drive as much as possible.

Welp, I just crossed the 6 month mark with my car (Ok, 6 months and 4 days). I am the 2nd owner, when I got her, she had 3282 mi.

Don't know if any of you care, but I can't be the ONLY numbers geek on here, can I?

Totals
Miles travelled: 5000 (yes, exactly)
Gallons of gas: 262
Gas cost: $748.99
Other maintenance*: $108.99
Total operating cost: $857.98
$ per mile: 0.17

Averages
$ per tank: $29.96
$ per gallon: $2.86
gallons per fill: 10.47
MPG: 19.1

Top Down details
Top UP miles: 23
Top DOWN %: 99.5

That's all for now. I'm interested in my stats after one year (one full winter, one full summer, etc.)

Other information:
-I live in Southern California.
-The S2k is daily driven, my only car.
-My commute to work is 3.x mi each way, all city.
-I drive the car moderately hard on the street, with the top always down**.
-My longest trip has been a little over 100 mi. so far, will be driving 350 mi. next week up to the Bay Area, looking forward to bumping that cumulative MPG up over 20

*Other Maintenance: All maintenance costs related to the mechanical upkeep of the car, non-cosmetic. Specifically in the first 6 months- 2 oil changes.
**23 Top UP miles include numerous short trips (all less than 4 miles) in the rain (stop and go), and top up for the courtesy of my lovely (and incredibly understanding) passenger.
You live right next to where i am moving, so expect to see a new LPB
