From my experience, the status of the car has nothing to do with the status of the owner. An asshole in a Porsche or S2000 is still and asshole. An enthusisast in either car will still garner my respect. People who buy any car in increase their perceived status are definitely a little insecure somewhere.

I don't really care what people think about my car, but when they disrespect my car in front of my face, I get offended. If someone thinks that their car is better than mine, they should keep it to themselves instead of being arrogant. I have much respect for cars, and If I just met you, I don't go around saying that "Your so-and-so car is NO s2000!"

I guess "Honda" is still known for economy cars and not sports cars. People still just don't realize the racing history of Honda.

I love my car and enjoy the performance very much. Driving my car is one of my favorite things to do. Especially when I get together with a bunch of other sports car enthusiast and owners.

I have gotten together with many 911, Ferrari and other exotic car owners and in no way did they ever disrespect my car. So how can a Boxster owner do it?

The main thing that I was trying to get at in my original post was "Respect and lack of" I mean let's just talk cars, I love cars.

For example: Yesterday I pulled up at a stoplight next to a 25th Anniversary Edition Firebird. The Driver (in his mid 50's) sticks his head out and says " Hey, wanna Drag!" jokingly and starts laughing. He then tell me that my car is a beautiful car and I return the compliment. We sat there just talking about cars even though the light had turned green holding up traffic for just a while. We took off and I turned exchanging waves. Now that's what I'm talking about.

I have come up with a perfect answer for those who trash my car.
"Oh no, now I am going to have to kill myself. I only live for your approval"

Personally, part of the many reasons why I chose my S is because it is undermined/underestimated by so many. Certainly not to brag or anything, I can easily afford a Boxster S and have cross shopped from a TT to the new M3. To be honest, none gave me as much enjoyment as the S2000

You might want to re-evaluate your source, because that's not true either. I know someone who has changed his engine oil at home, and he's not the sort who would skip the filter.

The dealer, of course, was upset because they had changed the oil "too soon"...

I always thought that a typical oil change on a Porsche was around $90.
