Don't just guess, practice. Get into full ABS a few times and then you'll know exactly how hard you have to press on the pedal.

To answer your question, Endless SS-S pads. Outstanding. I've used them for a while on my Evo now and I love them.

00-03 pads give quite a bit less initial bite than the 04 pads on an 04. I suspect that you felt less initial bite due to improper bedding of the pads. Jarod, I might suggest that you try either the Carbotech Panther or Cobalt GT-sport. both give better bite with increased dust although not a huge amount over the stock 04 pads.

I think the 04 has great bite though, better than the previous cars. You may have glazed the pads or osmething? you could try taking them off and sanding them down and then rebedding them, as well.
