Default Still Lookin' for 7th Gear

Am I the only one who thinks that this wonderful car would be even more superlative with a 2500 RPM 65MPH cruise gear?

Yes, iIMHO, t easily has the required torque (in the AP2 mode, anyhow)

i agree but this has been discussed before and we are in the minority. there aren't too many race tracks you take your car on where you'll actually use 6th gear.
i was bothered riding in my friend's rsx -s and his 6th gear cruising rpms were much more reasonable.
2500rpms may be a stretch considering the huge difference you'd have to have from 5th (1:1) compared to 6th.
the answer may be somewhere along the lines of having a taller final drive...say 3.73 or so. i know i know, such blasphomy shouldn't be posted. however i wouldn't be willing to spend $1000+ to get this done either.
coming from eight cylinder cars 4.10 gears are seriously high gears...even 3.73 or so is high but some like us would appreciate the lower cruising rpms.

Every time you wanted to speed up a bit you'd have to downshift to 5th. No thanks.

IMO, it does not. 5th and 6th gear on an AP2 is actually numerically lower than on an AP1 tranny. If you are cruising at 2500 rpm in top gear on the highway, you may be fine IF you are running down a level road, with no headwind. If you encounter a hill or a stiff headwind, you could just as easily start to lug the engine. I'm betting that there are lots of manual drivers who will not have a clue about when to downshift to compensate for this extra load.
We've got enough people mis-shifting and over-revving as it is. Next, we'll have people coming on here saying they've fried their crank bearings and have no clue why. No, we've got enough ham fisted drivers already. We don't need a whole new set of threads started about this other potential problem.

Neither.
AP1 - 5th gear is 0.971
AP2 - 5th gear is 0.943

6th in both cars are waaay overdrive.

That's a difference of 0.001. Is it important?

The S2000 doesn't need another gear. You forget this car (AP2) has an 8000 rpm redline. Cruising at 4000 rpm in 6th gear isn't even putting a strain on the motor.

It ain't the motor strain at issue here.
Its the untoward noise, busyness, and fuel consumption we're talking about.
The motor would love it as well.
Why not an electric overdrive in 5th and 6th? Drop out under load automatically and easily
