Well said, King. I don't know why people won't accept the fact that time brings advances and developements when it comes to these cars. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying AP2 is "better" but it is different.
As someone who has owned both, I will say the "soul" is there still. Despite numerous changes, it still feels similar to my AP1. Since I ended up getting the same color again, alot of my friends are now just noticing that it is a different car. With that said, the changes that have been made to the S2000 are not revolutionary. It wasn't a ground-up redesign. Its not like the difference between a Charger of old and the modern Charger (bleh).
The car still has two doors, a soft top, a high strung 4 cylinder, slick 6MT only and razor sharp handling. Stop embellishing the advancements/differences or "downgrades" of the car, and start looking at the similarities. You will find much more in that area than you may think.

ap2 pulls a lilttle stronger then ap1..i test drove both cars..just bc honda cut the redline to 82k doesn't mean that 9k is better..sounds like it but is not..by the time an ap2 shift a 82k..you still waiting for your 9k to shift..but oh well still an s2000..as you can see the dynos..

Yes, I'm very sure. The Hayabusa HP figures you quote are at the rear wheels, crank HP is higher.

New Ducati 1098 - 160 hp, 1.1 L = 145 hp/L
Modern 600's have no problem exceeding 180 hp/L.

All else being equal, the lower the displacement, the higher the hp/L potential (since you can get higher revs w/ lower reciprocating mass).
bingo. if honda were to make a five liter engine using the same technology it would be nowhere near the same hp/ltr figures. the smaller the engine the easier it is to have these stupid brag figures.
go ahead and brag about your hp/ltr figures after you lose the race.

well another argument for 2.2 is the fact that the AP2 engine can take FI alot better than Ap1's.

I remember seeing a dyno curve from one of the supercharger manufacturers comparing AP1 vs AP2 with their bolt-on. AP2 overlapped AP1 in every powerband. (I clicked on a link in this forum; now I can't find the thread.)
