stock dual to a "stock" single?
work slowed down this afternoon so i was doin a liitle bit of daydreamning. the stock exhaust is about 60mm( i think) so what would happen if you simply cut the piping to be a single? you know, rite where is y's by the diff. i bet power would be gained, and you would have an "oem" single.
what you think? has it been done?

I've wondered this myself. Sorry, wish I could give you an answer
Also, how would this affect the overall sound of the exhaust? Meaner and louder? We've got so many stock OE exhausts just rotting away, someone should just give it a shot

Not to go off with a different car but I cut the 2nd part of the Y from my 1995 SHO and hung a straight 1 pipe exhaust. The previous owner ran a straight pipe through the cat and I needed more backpressure. Obviously I went with a high flowing muffler. If nothing else I dropped about 20 pounds. I say its worth a try.

I thought about doing that too but instead I have decided to do my own system wit 2.5" stainless and a HKS, Apexi, etc.. muffler. I am still interested to know the results of a single OEM.
I am not a big fan of the duel, I think single looks cleaner. I remember laughing at civics and integras with duel exhaust.
