Sorry if this thread reads a tad on the
side now.
On Yes you gotta get your S out and skid pad test it. What a blast ! These cars have an amazing stock suspension.
But don't forget basic maintence first, bling after. Working on the car yourself makes you learn about it and this will help your S2000 experience.
Save some of that 2 grand for tires. I predict you will need some rears sooner than you think.

I ditto the driving school and track days.
But there is no need to change your car at all until you discover a defect that needs correcting.
(Unless you dressed up dolls as a kid and just miss the experience of blowing money on a new outfit for Barbie...)
Is it just me or do others see much more rewarding, gratifying ways of spending $2000, more rewarding than buying a new exhaust pipe?

Auto-x.... it's cheap, super fun, and the best way to go way past your limits in a safe environment. I'd go so far as to say forget track until you can handle your car on the auto-x course. At the track there is very little room for error and a beginner needs lots of room.
After you get better, you'll know what the car needs... it's not much. Shoot, the only thing I can think of is less weight and wider stickier tires. The latter opens a can of worms though so be careful.
Basically, save the bucks for later. Don't make a modding mistake early in the game like I did. I bought some 4.77 gears and then fell in love with auto-xing which they are illegal in stock class. I had to sell them and I took a hit. BTW, wheels with a different size than stock are illegal too.
Good luck.
