Anyone know the RMS wattage output of the factory head unit?

Precisely no. But generally speaking, not enough for decent sound.

The speakers are rated for 15W, and they're not going to put in a radio that can blow the speakers, so what does THAT tell you?

Pretty weak, it is listed as 4x20 peak power. The continuous output is probably less than 10W per channel with marginal distortion ratings.

I would imagine right around 12 watts RMS per channel.

Yeah I kinda figured it's under 15

I have a 30 watt amp and wondered just how much extra juice I was getting.
