Default Stress fractures of headlights

Although my Honda S2000 is now 3 years old ,I have completed only 10,000 Km.After a recent hail storm in melbourne,Australia the vehicle was damaged on most guards and on close inspection looking for hail damage it was noticed that the headlights had what looked like to be moister but was actual stress fractures. The insurance company will not cover these headlight under the hail storm damage. but at $900 a headlight, I will be chasing honda to replace them under warranty and find out why they have stressed ?. Has anyone else found this problem or if not check those headlight for stress fractures

Did you by any chance have some sort of clear bra material on the headlights?

It's funny that this subject came up, as I had stress fractures on the headlight lens after 2 years on my 1999 BMW 323i. I had put some of those clear protective lens covers from Griot's garage on them when I bought the car, and even though BMW replaced them under warranty (I took off the film before bringing them in), I wonder if it had anything to do with heat and the film. Both headlights were stressed in exactly the same spot.

The techical term is "crazing" and yes it was on my 2001 S2000 and I had the lights replaced under warranty.
