Default Stronger Clutch...

I was wondering... up to roughly what WHP rating can the stock clutch hold? I'm going to start going to bolt ons and I wanted to know when it would be a good WHP rating to change to a stronger clutch so that I don't get stranded... lol.

I have a MY06.

Upgrade it when it starts slipping.

I don't think anyone can give you a hard HP number. Depends on the wear already on the clutch and your driving style. There are serveral people running FI with the stock clutch holding up fine.

So pretty much... the stock clutch should hold with basic bolt ons? The only time I really get some sort of slippage is when I shift fast and my foot is planted on the gas pedal before the clutch is fully engaged... but I think that happens to everyone?!?!?!?

Do a search on the clutch delay. In a nut shell, the AP2 is designed to slip under hard shifting to save wear on the drivetrain. You can fix this however.

You should be fine with bolt ons. When it wears out, you can consider getting the stock disc again but with a stronger pressure plate. I believe what you are referring to is the clutch delay valve. It will stop you from shifting very quickly at high RPMs and from dumping the clutch. There is a procedure to remove it.

With a SC and 300 WHP, I get some slippage when I shift quickly and push the car. Under normal driving, there is no problems. When I feel I need to, I am going to go with hardtopguy's set up.

HT guys setup is basically what I was referring to. stock disc, stronger ACT pressure plate, and its a good idea to replace the TO bearing when you have it apart, and get a new flywheel or machine your stock one.
