i bought it from an s2ki user named "sparrow" at about 9pm tonight. he told me it was authentic AUT and had the receipt, etc. to prove it. it fits either way.

its cool, i got it to work--THANK YOU SO MUCH TO THOSE OF YOU WHO HELPED ME SO EARLY IN THE MORNING!

i just hope that i'm not jacking up my hood by having to drop it from 3 feet every time!

ok i know i'll do it myself for you guys:

Fwiw, I've seen people install it with the cooling plate without problems.

3 feet? While you should drop the hood to close it, anything over 8"-12" is excessive - maybe try tightening the bump stops a half turn and see if the helps?

The AUT is a pain in the ass but you can't expect it to fit perfect. I had to spend a good 2 hours dremeling out various spots where it just didn't match up. At first, the middle hinge was touching so it offset the whole plate. Then as the poster said, one of the bolts wouldn't quite match the hole so it had to be enlarged.

So put it on, mark, remove and dremel. Clean it up then repeat until everything matches up.
