Default stuffing a rag into intake to prevent rodents?

i got a question about stuffing rags into the intake to prevent rodents, do i stuff a rag into the part circled in the picture below? or do i need to open the intake box and stuff the rag in there? thanks.

i would stuff it where you circled.

you basically want to just seal up any place where they could get in.

it you want do your tail pipe too, especially if you have an aftermarket that is bigger

No rodents here, but I did find a rabbit in my engine bay once. that focker chewed some wires up.

I like to cover up where you circled really well and then place some cheese inside the intake box just to **** with 'em.

I covered the spot you circled and my tail pipes with aluminum foil as opposed to rags. Mice like to chew rags but not foil.

My experience is that rodents like rags. Great nesting material. I place mothballs in the airbox for storage and have never had a rodent problem. I also put mothballs in a dish on the passenger floor mat and another in the trunk. Car reaks in the spring, but it is a good excuse for top down driving!

Use steel wool to stuff into the airbox and tailpipe. Not too many animals will chew on that.

I hope you're talking about doing this while the car is in storage only, not when you'll be driving it. It seems obvious to me but just checking.
