MulderATO -

Hi! Quick question - is that an aftermarket "stereo-cover-flip-down-thingy"? Mine is just plain black and looks nowhere as cool as yours.

Thanks,
Dave

That radio door is off an ap2...direct replacement for your radio door. Pick one up from a vendor on the site!

Sorry. I was working !! Didn't mean to post and run...

Like it was stated above, only my 00-01 owners can rub off the console paint around the shifter. All you need is rubbing alcohol and it'll come right off.

The radio door is from an Ap2.. I purchased all black Ap2 door panels and bought the radio door as well. Some people like the descreetness of the color matched Ap1 radio doors, some (like me) wanted a little more. They come pretty cheap, and can be had just about anywhere.. keep your eyes open on the "For Sale" forum.

OK.. BE FORCEFUL BUT CAREFUL...

There are 3 "clips" along the top of the radio bezel above the vents (Left corner/center/right corner), 2 along the side (right middle/left middle). Open the radio door and grab the door part with both hands on eigther side and pull towards the rear of the car (make sure to cover the console with a towel so there are no sratches). Pull until you hear/feel the clips on the right and left sides release (at this point you may feel you are about to break something because it DOES take some force, but remember - "FORCEFUL BUT CAREFUL" . THEN STOP. Take a screwdriver and slide the head in along the top between the dash and the top of the bezel just above the right corner of the right vent. This may take a little finessing. Wedge the screw driver in carefully and pull again on the door until you hear/feel it unclip. Simply work your way across to the driver side. Thats all.

Thanks alot guys, it looks ten times better now plus it looks awesome

with my polished rick's voodoo knob(and diy leather cover)

don't forget to use leather conditioner to moistureize the boot and console cover(if you have leather) where the leftover alcohol could over-dry the leather/vinyl

[QUOTE=Stratocaster,Jun 22 2006, 11:25 AM]You have an 00, so you can clean off the paint using rubbing alcohol. this will reveal the crome-plating under it.

I am new to the board, but just did this to my car and it looks great! Does anyone know if the panels around the audio and HVAC controls are the same material that can be enhanced like the shifter surround? Thanks in advance.
No, those are plastic and cannot.
