Mingster...thanks for the memories...the tunnels that is. Anyone else remember the naked lady painted above the first tunnel (heading towards Pasadena) in like 1969 or 70? Or was that the Malibu Canyon tunnel heading home from Zuma Beach? Either way thanks for the memory, haven't thought of that for like 25 years........

It only rained once when I was in LA....for a year.
My wife and I moved from San Diego to LA (Pasadena) and lived there for four years. In those four years we saw:

- the LA riots
- the Northridge earthquake
- the Altadena fire
- two years of torrential winter rains with flooding and mudslides

LA? No way!

Your best bet in that situation is to get off of all pedals and steer period.

LOL Tom! you're scaring away the tourists!

But I think the 90s were pretty hard on LA, I agree. From '92 on you've had the riots, the floods (many times), the fires (many times), the earthquake (just one big one). But LA is still a great place to live...that sounded pretty lame even to me.

Probably better to roll off to neutral throttle and countersteer. If you slam the the throttle shut two things happen 1)weight tranfers to the front causing the rear end to get even lighter and compression braking from the engine causes even more difficulties in regaining traction.

Remember..smooth is fast.

I've been down that road a couple of times in years past...never in my S2K. First time about 10 years ago in a new Nissan 300ZX. Ended up doing a 360 and heading straight down the road in the direction I was originally headed. No harm, no foul, so I tried to look cool and make the other drivers think I was a stunt driver and meant to do it.

Second time on a Harley in a sudden summer thunderstorm. Dropped the bike at about 50 in a downhill turn. Fortunately, full leathers.

Long story short: Most normal people learn this lesson after it happens to them once. For idiots, it takes twice and a few broken bones.
