Comptech has a supercharger, and Jackson Racing and Vortech are working on theirs.

I'm not sure the Whipple is at all similar to the Paxton.

Whipple is a roots type - similar to Eaton. Vortech is centrifugal (similar to a turbo, but belt driven instead of exhaust gas-driven). Paxton blowers are also centrifugal - but traditionally a little different from Vortech; but the Paxton Novi unit in the comptech is basically a vortech knock-off.

The #1 reason I purchased a Comptech supercharger kit is due to their flawless experience with their supercharged NSX. I feel so much better that Comptech has approximately 5 years and 2 - 300 kits worth of supercharging a high-end high compression VTEC engine. Sure you get years of experience from Jackson and Vortec but at an extremely broad focus... Vortec supercharges EVERYTHING.

Just my opinion.

Tuners like Comptech, King, and RM have highly focused areas of expertise... that's why I will buy from them (and am willing to pay whatever is necessxary) because they really know our car.

I would be very wary of the Jackson Racing product. A friend of mine with an Integra GSR and a Comptech supercharged NSX bought a Jackson racing kit for his integra and has continuous problems with it. The kit initially is not stand alone. He has had to buy several upgrades to make it function properly. Per his description, the car goes like heck at the track but if your car is a daily driver then you definitely are compromised on the street. With the Comptech for both the NSX and S2K there are no compromises. The car drives as it did before only with much more power. My opinion.

I talked to John and told him to add whipple, but he put like a Paxton, so i corrected him, but he wasn't able to edit it... I hope that clears some stuff up. The Whipple is a Positive Displacement Screw Type blower. closest relitive is the Eaton Roots type blower.

I agree with shaner, but it is also important to remember that the NSX uses a different type of blower ( this part is made for them by Whipple) than the SC for our cars. But on the same token, Comptech's reputation is great and they only deal with a particualr breed of car. In the end it is all about your comfort level with the company that you are about to give your 5-6k to, I will be buyong the Comptech as soon as the break-in period on my car is done.

Rev, not wanting to nit pick, but, I'm not sure your statement is necessarily true. In practice the two types are definitely similar (except

Jon, to get your poll more exposure I think this thread would be better served in Car Talk. Please remember the purpose of Under the Hood is technical discussions and while an explaination of the differences between superchargers qualifies. It was not the intended purpose of this thread.
