If you would be interested in documenting the whole process with installation steps, pictures, tuning, etc, I would be pleased to extend to you an invitation to post up a new thread about all of it in UTH. If it's really detailed, I'll move it to the "Technical" section and even link it into the FAQ's for the permanent record. To date, no such documentation has been done and I think everyone here now and those to come will benefit greatly from it.

It depends on what situation is. Do you have an extra car? Do you have enough spare cash to spend on surprise f* ups? If you do, then I would go with a turbo setup, internal work, a good tuner, and some extra tires because if you opted for the supercharger, you would get used to it and want
more power <--------- that's me right now.

Hopefully, I will be able to bank up some money over the next few months and get a turbo setup and internal work from AEBS. Do some extensive research on both applications before you make your decision. If you car is a daily driver, I would stay away from a turbo and lean towards a supercharger. A supercharger seems to be alot more reliable in the long run and less down time in the beginning. Fortunately, I have a few other cars so the S isn't my main way of transportation. It's just a matter of updating my daily driver (rx300) or dropping that money into my S Good luck and happy researching!

I believe turbo kits that are being offered now as a whole have gone a long way since the beginning. We know they obviously weren't nearly as successful as the SC's were a few years ago, which is easily why the SC's are the most popular means of FI for our cars.

I think the major problem associated with the turbos was the lack of research done in seeking their compability with our cars. And then poor fuel management and tuning. It's no doubt a difficult task to take on, but if done correctly the first time then I believe it could be greatly rewarding.

SC's are easier to get going the first time since they alter such a small portion of the car's powerband. Turbos make their presence know much sooner, thus requiring much more fine tuning at all aspects of the powerband. SC's get away with their fmu pretuned because of it's peaky nature.

It's never easy, nor cheap, to get a turbo on and running right. But if everything is done properly from install straight down to the tuning, then there should be little to no negative effects.... well maybe really poor gas mileage That is considering the owner of the car treats it with full respect, and doesn't seek MORE power. That's usually when problems occur both with SC and turbo.

Rule of thumb is just not to half ass anything when doing something to this extent. Understand what you're getting into. If you can't afford to do it right the first time or plan on taking little steps here and there, don't do it!

X is right. To think it's a cheap add on is simply naive... But the future is looking a bit brighter for those wanting to go the turbo route.

I got a chance to ride in a turbo'd S2000 for the 1st time about a month ago. The guy's car was putting down @ 380-400 whp & pushing @ 15 psi. Full boost at @ 3500 RPM. Totally built internals, tuned by my tuner w/AEM EMS.

To sum it up in a word, the experience was exhilirating. The onrush of full boost at 3500 is neck snapping. There is simply no comparison b/n his car and mine in a straight line. His car would eat mine alive.

That being said, I just found out that he broke his tranny and diff last week from the added power, and is now so frustrated that he is selling the car. He was on his 3rd engine since going turbo.

The moral of the story: if you're planning on going turbo, the rewards are indeed great. BUT...you better be prepared to spend bookoo $$ to get there...and stay there. Sh*t IS going to break, and you're gonna have to make some tough decisions down the road (i.e. keep the car and keep dumping $$ into it, or sell it and get out while you still can). So long as you can accept that, you'll be fine.

IMO, the SC compliments this car almost perfectly. It's just the right amount of fun and reliability I was looking for.

I'm saving the turbo project for my next car.

Most S2000 owners would say that this is not worth the short lived thrill.

I totally agree. I consider myself one of those people.

- I would think you would be more prone to problems pushing almost 400hp then at 300hp, which most turbo kits come in at... just play it safe...
