Default Surfboard and S2000

Has any one had any experience of getting their board to the beach in an S2000?

I took my Body board out the other day and although it wouldnt fit in the boot it was ok on the passenger seat.
That is until I picked up a friend. When I took off the wind hit the board which was upright and on her lap and thumped her straight in the face.
Pretty funny from the driver seat.
BTW for the response that you're after.......

Do a search.
There was a discussion a little while ago about snowboards etc that would apply to this.

here's some removable carriers for your S...

however, not sure if a surfboard would be ideal on one of these. I think you'd have to drive up there without a passenger and it would be fine. I've done it with wakeboards a few times, notta problem. but that's a bit smaller.

I just put my top down put a big towel over the seat/roll hoop, and wedge it in.

I think 9000RPM took his board to the beach. Unfortunately, it fell over and put a nice ding in the top of his trunk.

I surf all the time with my S. I pull the seat forward and recline it all the way. Nose first and skegs facing the seat. It works better if you have a good board bag. BTW my board is 6'2, I know a guy that does it with a longboard but I would not do that. I've seen too many boards lost and shatterd on the freeway.

As I posted in another thread on this I seen a clk the other day with a couple of boards strapped to the roof. I spun out and thought it was a pretty good idea and something that you wouldnt expect on an MB, maybe a miata or something but?

It all depends on how far you're or more importantly how fast you will be travelling. If you fab some rails to place over the window lip and dont mind leaving the windows down while your driving then you should be able to tie something down.

Couple of things though....
Be careful how tight you pull the staps so you dont warp the roof. I guess this would have to be pretty tight.
And be aware that using this method means that there will be a strap running through the cabin at around head height which could be dangerous.

As I said in the other thread I wouldnt do this but thats only b/c I have the luxury of having a brother with a ute that surfs as well.

Better to play safe then and take the girlfriends car, VW golf hatchback. The nearest surf is a couple of hours drive and means travling at speed on the motorway. No point risking damaging both the car and the board. Big thanks to Blue and everyone else for the advice. Top lads!

Cheers
Si.
