So bars and not lowered for rough/everyday surfaces; springs + bars for smooth surfaces.

My engine is red and silver and it makes a loud noise when I push the third pedal.

Notify the press!!! - you could be next on the Larry King show, or more likely, the Gary Shandling Show.

Don't forget shocks, I think they're the hardest working component (handling-wise) next to the tires.

I do not agree, cornering-wise, and based on the questioner's stated objective. In a long sweeper, for example, even the stiffest shock will compress since it cannot compete with the weight and g-forces of the car. A thicker bar can, springs can to a degree, and a lowered car will also lower the amount of force the rest of the suspension has to deal with, by reducing the polar moment of inertia.

Thanks for the help guys. I bought "High performance handling handbook" by Don Alexander this evening. Hopefully it will shed some light on my questions.

Ok, we were discussing this pretty specifically in another thread, but I can't seem to find that thread now. So I'll ask here.

I've done some reading. Very interesting stuff. I'm sure I haven't got my head around all of it, but enough so to make a start.

I'm thinking springs and roll bars are a start toward what I want. My last S was lowered 2" and had comptech non-adjustable sway bars F and R, and I can remember a distinct difference in handling. I didn't think about it much until now though because those changes were made by the previous owner, so that was the only way I ever knew the car.

I have two questions: If I liked how that car handled, can I assume that I need to go F and R sway bars? I've heard mixed thoughts on this issue. Some say go both, some say go front only. Also, I have no intention of dropping 2" again. No more than 1" this time for drivability around town.

Number two: Assuming I'd like to go with F and R sway bars, but I'd also like to dial the oversteer down just a bit. I'm leaning toward the Saner bar for it's bang for the buck. Someone has also mentioned that Saner makes a rear bar. I'm wondering if I can match F and R Saner bars but dial the F one notch stiffer than the R. Does that sound like a decent plan?
