Switching to Synthetic
Here's a regimine, not that it's better than anyone elses but maybe easier to remember.
Dino oil- Change every 5,000mi....this is over 30% sooner than the Honda rec.
Syn oil- Every 7,500mi....this is maybe 30% or more sooner than mfg. rec.
Advantage- easy to remember. In the case of the synthetic, your oil change reminder has a real function now and one that you can live with religously.

Is there something you need to do when changing from dino to synthetic??
I just decided to start using mobile 1 after my first oil change(got it with 20k mi) and never looked back (36k mi now), I change it every 3k mi with a Honda filter. I know it's over kill, but peace of mind is priceless imo

used what oil. what fantasy are you talking about? synthetic or regular?
you could go ahead and use synthetic oil over 5000 miles. keep on doing that and come back and let me know what happens to your engine.
as far as synthetic based oil, i'm referring to the FACT that there are only few oils made in this world that has a synthetic foundation for their oil.
as far as the BITOG, I use to refer him to all of the people I know, but honestly, he has no factual database and reference source to back up his claim.
so it's like any joe (or bob) putting up bunch of pictures and telling you what it is.
if you drive this car in a "normal driving condition", please get a hybrid or something. I never drove any of my car under "normal driving conditions".
Then again, you have no idea what you're talking about.

I'm sorry, but if your car is not a dedicated track car, then changing the oil every 2000 miles is just plain dumb. You are within warrantee to change regular dino oil every 7500 miles for crying out loud. There are plenty of UOA's that have been posted of as common a 'synthetic' as Mobil 1, that showed regularly autocrossed and tracked S2K's had plenty of oil life remaining at 10,000 miles.
I can't believe Road Rage posted up in this thread and managed to not just go "AAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!"
This thread gets my vote for "Most misinformed thread of the month"
This subject has been visited at LEAST 5,000 times in the history of S2KI, and every single thread winds up being 99%
On that note, "The OIL Journals" seem to have gotten lost in the shuffle, and can be somewhat difficult to find.

It's amazing how much misinformation is posted every single time there's topic about engine oil. Good grief!
Here's a link to the official s2ki "Oil Journals".

If anyone is unsure of when is the best change interval for their engine oil the best way to clear it up is to use an oil analysis lab. For what I see being spent here by S2000 owners on modifications and maintenance and the genuine devotion to these machines everyone seems to have it's an easy answer source. Make sure you use a lab with a reputation for excellence vs. one with a low price. Many factors are responsible for how long your oil can be effective and no one answer fits you all. I realize for some of you I'm preaching to the choir but the questions here prove that not everybody has used analysis yet. Good Luck and may you never get a ticket.........
