Have you ever tried to get a group of people (8 people from the office) to go to lunch? First they have to decide IF they want to go, then they have to decide WHEN they want to go. Then the biggie: WHERE they want to go. By the time that this is out of the way, lunch has come and gone. I have found out that it's much easier to announce that it's lunch time and anyone that wants to go will meet in the parking lot in 5 minutes. Then you tell them where to eat and it's done.

Personally I use royal purple, stuff works great and I am one of the very severe user's they speak of. Never had any trouble, the red line stuff is real nice as well, there tranny lube is steller, I swear by the stuff especially for older trannys.

Getting my first oil change next Monday. The car has just passed the 5,000 mark and I wanted to wait until 5K because as I stated in other posts, it seems to me that Honda engineers have more experience with the car than I do and splitting the difference between severe and routine (3500/7500) seemed like a logical approach, especially when the car seems to be getting stronger with each additional 1K. I'm NOT going to synthetic until December. #1 will be 10W-30 and regardless of mileage, the second oil change in December will be with 5W-30 Royal Purple. It just seems this is a topic with no correct and absolute answer since for everyone who has found success changing at 3000, there is another who swears if you wait longer, you'll break the car in sweeter and dyno higher. I'm splitting the hair.

i really like amsoil and run it exclusively. It is probably overkill when you figure that I change my oil ever 5k miles.

My S has 1400 miles in 9 months. Has been v-teced since day one. I have yet to add oil to it the oil will be changed with the Plug tsb. I will probably have 1500 mile on it then. My dealer uses mobil 1 and that is what it will get then. I agree with jimbo, everything is seated by 1500 miles. Every motor that I have rebuilt or installed when I was a mechanic for a living ran at 2500 rpms to set the rings and camshaft. Your wear patterns are set in the first few miniuts of running. What you might notice is that the S's that do not burn oil are the ones that were driven hard from day one. A friend of mine also has an 02 that was v-teced from day one, has 3500 mile on it, and has not needed oil added either. Also, remember how many cars have Mobil 1 as factory fill and have recomended oil changes of 15000 miles.
