Haven't read the entire thread, and this may have already been said...

But I'll downshift to 2nd and let them have to e-brake it not to hit me.

And if they do hit me, I say my lower back hurts (doctor's can determine lower back problems as they can with other injuries)

You like apples?

I got in the habit of carrying 3/4 inch stainless steel ball bearings in the pocket of my motorcycle jacket. When someone doesn't back off, let a hanful of those fly. They work just as well when pitched out of a convertivle or out of a moonroof.

The worst is when you are driving at night and a huge full size truck is on your rear. I usually throw out some change ( with the top down ) the kerplunking sound on their cars usually backs them off. Of course I try everything else first.

First off this is just a dream.

I would love to have a potato cannon behind my tag. Then when one of those idiots is on my back bumper drop the tag and make French fries in his radiator.

Ok dream over.

If you nail your brakes and get hit from behind it is not always their fault. If you did it intentionally just to make them mad it may be your fault if there are witnesses. In Atlanta there was a recent trial where a man felt he had been cut off. He got in front of the car and nailed his brakes. The woman driving lost control of her car trying to avoid him and a death resulted. He was being tried for murder. Not a pleasent thought.

Sometimes it seems to me like everybody in America wants to be a cop. That is, they want to help enforce speed limits by limiting the speed that others drive. (As witnessed by people driving slow in the left lane.) I think it has very little to do with safety, and everything about control. They want to CONTROL others by keeping others behind them.

Not all drivers are like that. I was in Sweden in 1995 riding with a local driver. We were traveling down an (albeit wide) 2 lane highway. Traffic was heavy both ways. As we came up behind a car, the car we were overtaking pulled over to the right partially onto the paved berm. My driver started to pass with heavy oncoming traffic coming straight at us! (We were actually straddling the center line.)

As I was starting to have a heart attack in the passenger seat, the oncoming cars simply moved a little to the right onto the paved berm, and everyone safely passed three wide!

Scared the heck out me as he did this time and again. The people there don't seem to have any "road rage." When they are overtaken, they simply move over and make room.

Can you IMAGINE anyone doing that here in the U.S.?

I'm not so sure why people get into the left lane and drive slowly. I oftentimes think that they don't even realize that they are doing it. I honestly believe that think they are moving at a legitimate speed.

Don't misunderstand, I don't like it either, but I really don't think they are doing it to anger or control anyone.

I think this is also true of those who pull out of a parking lot or parking space immediately ahead of oncoming traffic only to go slow. I used to be angered by this, but I really don't think that these people realize what they are doing.

Perhaps most drivers need to be reeducated.
