Default Taking out the rear panel??

I have been thinking of a way to stop my trunk from shaking when the sub was hitting. I went thru alot of ideas and finally I decided to take the rear panel out. So I just took out the rear panel behind the passenger seat so that the trunk would have a bigger vent into the cabin. This is simply so I can hear the sub better and keep the trunk from shaking. You can't even tell that the panel is gone when the passenget seat is in the normal lay back position if your standing next to the car, UNLESS you really look for it. I just wanna see if their would be any con's to this except the appearance factor. As I see it, The Pro's are: Better hitting sub, No shaking of trunk, Less weight ( I know it barely any weight to get rid of, but hey, weight is weight) And the only cons I can think of are appearance. Also, I took out the spare tire and the foam stuffing that was between the spare and the panel. Is this foam just to stop the panel and sparetire from rubbing against each other or does it have a different purpose. Thanks alot

Is your back "shelf" (where the top goes when it's down) vented?

I saw pics of Wesmaster's rear tray vent and it looks very nice. I'd like to do the same sometime. Its difficult for me to crawl back there to get it out. How did you do it Wes?

Ace - If you'd like I could make you a vent in your passenger side panel. I could cut a hole 6 1/2" in the center and put a speaker grill on it. I have an extra 6 1/2 grill from an infinity set that would do the trick. Email me if you'd like it.

It's not easy to get the back shelf out. The way I did it was put the top down half way, it made it much easier to get to since you can be facing the back of the car standing in the driver's seat on your knees without having to duck under the roof.

What the venting looked like when it was professionaly done, before I made it bigger:

What it looks like after I made it bigger:

There's an obvious quality difference, but once the shelf is in place it looks just fine.

You can take it out, that's what you see against the wall there (above). The problem is that you can see inside to the red metal and carpet padding stuff...looks tacky.
