parklikeas*hole I know its a waste of time but if others really bother you, you can always let them know by giving them one of the notices lol. Beats vandalizing their cars

[QUOTE=Ruprecht,Jan 14 2008, 10:52 AM] Your car, to do as you please with, on your property.
Not your lot thought...it is someone else's lot, and they pay the property tax, maintenance, and all other expenses.
As it is THEIR lot, they make the rules.

I shouldn't have to be trying to prove anything.
Right is right, wrong is wrong, decent is decent, etc.
Right is right, wrong is wrong, decent is decent, etc.
If you do that, then nobody is going to want to teach you a lesson about the right, wrong and decent.
If you prove that you don't understand these simple concepts (by taking up two spaces with one car), then inevitably, someone will do a public service and provide some educational tips to assist you in better understanding how it works.
One car?
One spot.
Take a single spot like the rest of us.
You open the can of worms when YOU decide to break the rules, YOU do the wrong thing, and infringe upon others that may need a spot. Even if the lot is empty, it might not be empty when you return.
As others have said, it's not a questions of IF someone will teach you this, it is just a question of when.
Do the right thing, be decent, and don't infringe on others. That is the golden rule.
If you find it is simply to difficult for you to play by these very simple rules, then leave the car at home, or maybe the S ain't the right car for you.
Once you infringe on others, the next rule is eye for an eye.
You cannot complain about the splinter in other folks eyes when you have a board in your own.
Well, I have tried ALL, and this is what I have come up with:
If you take up two spaces, you get keyed for being an asshole.
If you parked with everyone else, you get door dents and scratches.
If you park away from everybody, you car becomes isolate and pray of vandalism. (debadged, braked in (hm, yummy s2k seats!! lol), etc).
So I have founded that the best way is curve parking. Park really close to a curve...it decreases the chances by 1, instead of 2 cars. And if you're really close to the curve, you might reduce those door dings from those who swing the door open negligently in the only spot next to you.

i wont ever take up 2 spots myself. hell i hate it when people do it and dont even mean it because there driving there stupid land yachts. i will park further back in the lot just to avoid all the older people and family cars that typically inhibit the spots closer due to the fact that those people just dont care

What kind of idiot mentality and upbringing does it take to mentally justify keying or generally messing with anyone else's property just because you don't like the way they park? Next it will be, the color of their car or the color of their skin - oh wait, that's been done already. Where do you draw the line?
I've read people say they think the double parkers think they are better than you just because they try to take care of their belongings. In this instance I am going to have to agree, they are better than you. Everyone is created equal, it is your actions that determine your place in the heap and it appears that most who have responded are talking from the bottom of the heap. Do any of you have Mamas? Did none of you go to Sunday School? Didn't anyone try to teach you right from wrong?
We are talking about some very basic right and wrong issues here and the double parkers aren't wrong, they could be misguided if they do it to the detriment of others, but they aren't wrong. They guy throwing the taco or keying the car is WRONG!!!
It doesn't matter what kind of car it is Bentley, Kia, Lambo, Mercedes, S2000, etc. it is their car and they have the right to take care of it anyway they see fit as long as it doesn't infringe upon your rights. This might be the first (new) car the person with the Kia has ever had. It might be more important than gold to them. Are you sneering at them because they feel that way or because they have pride in ownership. Now who thinks they are better than everyone else?
I don't think anyone has said they pull up close to a store and purposefully take up 2 spaces, they all talk about parking off and taking up 2 spaces to prevent a$$holes like most of the posts on this list
As far as being against the law, I don't think so. Double parking which IS against the law refers to parking 2 deep on a PUBLIC street. In other words parking out in the traffic lane. As others have mentioned we are talking about private parking lots and the police have no jurisdiction there (for traffic violations, public safety is another issue altogether) unless they are invited on by the owner. If the owner doesn't want you visiting their establishment unless you park a certain way it is their right to post a sign or to ask you to leave. It is never the right of another guest (you).
While we are talking about breaking the law, anyone who keys or other wise messes with someone else's property IS breaking the law. I wonder why that is, could it be that the law recognizes the soverign rights of the property owner?
Lighten up and use a little common sense in your life. But then again based upon this thread maybe it is UNcommon sense.

Another E-Lawyer...
Pull your head out!...
What makes anyone special to think that they can go out into Public and double park and take someone elses spot away? WHAT?.....
You sticking up for the OP shows your lack of depth and perception of reality.
Talk about drawing the line?.... what if EVERYONE decided that they could double park? When do you draw the line and say it's WRONG? WHEN?!!! So just because it's only potentially ONE person double parking it isn't wrong?
I don't care if the person walked 10 miles in snow both ways to work for 10 years to save his money so he could afford his KIA.... That's not my problem. I could care less. When I want to park my POS Hyundai that my mommy paid for me, I have just as much right to an available parking spot.
Wake up dude and quit playing devils advocate.
You play......you pay! If you come back to your double parked car and it's egged dented and slashed tires... you deserve it. Sorry. No sympathy here.
If someone came crying to me that someone vandalized there car because it was double parked.. I would laugh in his face and call him a straight DUMB ASS and quit crying like a bitch.
You better ask somebody...

Parallel parking is the WORST for cars getting damaged. Bumper swipes galore.
Even if you park with enough distance, the person behind or infront may not.
Every time you see the bumper of a car with the smudge of paint on the front and rear corner.....it's because of parallel parking near the curb. Or what you call a curve.

Unless I had something like a Ferrari or a Lambo, cars that barely fit in regular spots anyway, I wouldn't consider it.
