Calling FR cars "mid-engine" because some part of the front-mounted engine happens to be at or behind front axle centerline (be it the engine's c.g. or its front-most extremity) is not a good idea imo.
Yeah, it's good to have the engine shoved back as far as reasonably possible.
No, it's not a mid-engined car in my book, and to call it one removes the descriptive power of the term "mid-engined".
Even "FMR" is a bit of a stretch. Particularly on a car like, say, the 370Z, which would be technically considered "front-mid-engine", but has a very Camaro-esque 55F/45R weight distribution.
FR = engine in front of driver/passengers, rear drive
MR = engine behind driver/passengers, largely in front of rear axle, rear drive
RR = engine largely behind rear axle, rear drive
And if you wanna call your FR car "FMR", it should at least have 50/50 or better (more rearward) weight distribution!

Aston Martin V8 Vantage (2005)

Volvo B10M
Volvo B12M
Volvo B58

The Volvo B10M and B12M are similar. And no, it's not behind the bus. It is the bus.
So technically, aren't we more similar to this Volvo bus than the Toyota MR2?

lol mr2 is the name of the car produced my toyota. it will never be a s2000. but i get ur idea of another car being mid engine, rear wheel drive and having 2 seats....nsx
