Have you ever opened up a car magazine and read every word of a Lamborghini test-drive? Ever wish you could take a Ferrari out for some hot laps around a race course? Have you day-dreamed about which exotic car you'd purchase if you won the lottery?

Basically, the C6 Z06 is the opportunity for the well-off to afford the kind of performance that previously was available only to the ultra-rich.

Granted there are some trade-offs if you're getting $200k supercar performance in a ~$65k car. But for many of us it's the first time in our lives that we'd be able to own such a performance beast.

I have to say the Vette is NOT a very good example of quality when put next to most any Honda.

There are three people at work with Corvettes, two C5's and one C6. More often than not one of those three are having and issue with their car at any given time, some major (like needing to have the car towed to the dealership) and some minor (like water leaking through the seals in the removable roof panel).

but will not buy a GM product based on the companies past history of quality. I hate spending one minute more than I need at any dealership, Chevrolet or Honda.

I just wouldn't trade my S2000 for it.
S2k Dude you have got it right . I have never been tempted by the Plastic Unfantastic . Sure it is fast but the quality and reliability is still crappy Cavalier . Sooner or later you will find that Chevy fruit turns rotten very fast.

I hope the value of the latest Z06 hold up better than past Vettes, something I think the S2000 has done a good job of.
I'm hoping the values plummet. That will make my '07 much more affordable when I buy it in '10.

RR, at least have the sense not to get one during the first model year. Let someone else be the "Omigod! I've gotta have one at any price!" sucker.

I loved both my s2k's ( I had an 2000 and an 04') and the quality was great but they're not without their problems. My 2000 had to have the clutch replaced at 15k miles ,spark plugs came loose because of bad washers, seat belt jammed and was replaced. The stereo sucked so bad it was useless, the rear window in plastic was hard to see out of( distortion) and the trans. would grind 2nd if you shifted too fast,I still loved it.My 04 I only had for 3500 miles but it was way better but the clutch would still slip if driven hard and oh that smell..I still own 2 Hondas and just bought a new 05 Odyssey which I love, also have an Accord.
The 05' C6 is miles above the C5 in quality and has been an absolute great car( the power is intoxicating) and rock solid.Would I buy another s2k,yes if they up the torque a little more and add some sort of active handling. I spun out in my s2k on a highway and was almost killed,I will never be without active handling again, its a life saver in adverse conditions and can be turned off for racing, its as basic as ABS or Airbags and soon will be a mandatory safety item in passenger cars.
