^ probably stupid/ballsy-y.

kudo's for walking out and being well informed. i'm currently helping my g/f car shop which has been....interesting. she would really like to get an RDX, but their being only two years old and not many out there, it's hard to find one in her price range that isn't on the opposite side of the country.

don't forget what a good detailing job can do for a car. the wash and wax forums have plenty of examples of cars being brought back to life outside of mechanical issues.

also don't forget a dealer will 9 times out of 10 say all kinds of BS the first time you stop in. once u show you're well informed it might get lmited, but chances are they'r going to feed u a pile of BS (aka the moving fast statement). its always good to know how long the car has been listed online as that can be major ammo to help your cause. in your case, there are A TON of good used s2k's out there to choose from an theres no rush.

additionally if anyone has any RDX advice hit me up

I just heard on CNN that the US car dealers have a surplus of 7 MILLION cars. It's really a buyers market. If a dealer won't work with you just move on to the next one.

This is what is funny to me. I am currently looking for my S2000's replacement. I looked at the Z4, Boxster and Genesis coupe and spoke with Chevy, Mazda and Audi about the Cobalt SS, Mazdaspeed 3 and TT. The prices I am getting are crazy. The SS would lease at $470/mth($100/mth MORE than my S2000 with has an MSRP $10K above the SS). Mazda won't even lease a MS3. Audi wanted $750/mth for a $42K TT(crazy). Porsche and BMW have decent deals available on the Boxster and Z4(both are being revised next year so only 08's are around right now) but they still want too much IMO considering how poorly cars are selling. I would think they would be hungrier, but I am not seeing it. I also looked for an '09 S2000 and was quoted about $650/mth($300/mth more than I pay for the same car I currently drive).

^One of the reason for leases being more on "cheaper" models is going to be due to massive depreciation. Even in the best economic circumstances, a brand-new Cobalt SS is going to depreciate way more than a brand-new S2000.

the Europeans (BMW in particular) used to heavily subsidize the leases, with extremely low money factors and very "ambitious" residuals. now, despite low "target" interest rates, credit is very difficult to come by, so i imagine the money factors are high, and residuals are going to be more conservative.

While I agree with you on the depreciation issue- why is an 09 S2K 300/mth more than an 06? They certainly aren't selling any better today than they were 3 yrs ago. It would seem Honda would be doing whatever they can to "move" them.

^Doing whatever they can to move them is not going to include losing money, and since used car values are plummeting, the leasee is going to have to pay more each month to bring the sale price down to the plummeting calculated/projected residual value.

$29,999 imported from Florida and delivered to my broker in Vancouver for an '07 GPW with Invidia Exhaust and K&N intake. Car was like new with 12K miles on it.

That is what I paid complete. That was at the height of the CDN dollar as well back in August.

The car belongs to the dealer therefore he can ask for any price he wishes. Don't attempt to deal with anything that is obviously overpriced.
A simple" thank you but I want to shop around a little more before buying" sholuld also convey your dissapointment and probably let the dealer know that he may have lost the chance for a deal.
