Test driving this weekend - Need advice
If you're leasing, you don't really care about whether it's a 05 or 06. Your residual has already been determined at the outset. It only matters if you plan to buy out the lease at some point and flip the car right away.
Calm down about the "02 is faster" comment. I just wanted to get your collective blood pressure up. I don't care which is faster to be honest. Mine goes fast enough for me.
My main point was: BUY, dont lease. If you finance, you pay the same as leasing, but when its all said and done, you OWN the car and you can sell it or keep it or whatever you want. You don't just give it back.

That's still an option with buying. Just sell it to pay of the car loan. Use the difference between what you still owed and what you sold the car for to put a downpayment on the new car and finance that one as well.
If leasing had an economical advantage over buying, then the people who Buy the car to lease it would loose money. That's not the case, so if you cut out the middle man and buy the car yourself, you will make out better than leasing.

Don't lease the 05. BUY the 02. It's got the glass rear window, and It's Faster. They made the car more tame recently to accomodate the car reviewers (the same ones who review the luxury SUV's
)
)I bought my car in Oct '04 and it is an '05. The best deals can be had in the middle of winter. What idiot is gonna buy a convertible in winter?? Well, I did because of the awesome deal I was getting. Add to the fact that they had my color choice coming off of a truck scheduled to arrive 3 weeks after the first interaction I had with the dealer.
Don't pay MSRP or dealer adjusted values. Shoot for 500 under invoice. I got my dealer down to 800 over invoice, but people have been known to get the 500 under.
Good luck!
