Default TEST PIPE questions

Hey,
I have been researching alot about the different test pipes i can buy for my s2000. I have read that some trigger a CEL an some dont but my question is what do you guys feel is the bang for the buck. I can get a Megan for 50 bucks and i found a new berk test pipe for 125 shipped. I have read alot about you guys running test pipes with an exhuast? I dont want an exhuast on my s2k unless its a single exhuast or i am going turbo which is not happening anytime soon. So basically what do you guys feel is a great test pipe with a stock exhaust also what gains can i expect? Also wanted to ask is the exhuast a little more throatier with the test pipe? Thanx alot for the all the info later.

Don't get the Megan. It's resonated (not a good thing) and tends to rattle for a lot of people. Get one of the straight through designs like Berk or T1R.

You should get around 3 hp with the stock exhaust. With a single, the test pipe will add 5-8. It will sound slightly throatier and raspier with the test pipe on the stock setup.

I have had the T1R on my car for over a year and love it.. this is on a stock exhuast also.. really beefs up the exhuast note

Ok so resonated is bad because it rattles basically? alrite that makes sense i guess and the berk is priced alot better than T1R i am guessing? Is there a simple fix to avoid the CEL ? i was reading about screwing the 02 in properly will not trigger the o2.

I had a CEL pop up when I installed my test pipe.. all i did was a get "O2 Fouling Plug" and drill out part of it and it fixed the light... basicly what it does it pull the sensor out of the main stream of the exhuast so the sensor doesnt detect all the "bad harmful gasses" that the cat didnt take out

well i just found a T1R Test pipe on aj-racing for 147 bucks which isnt bad. The site said with Headers an exhuast expect a 3-5 hp increase that doesnt sound right though? I guess its between berk an T1R for me i just need to hear some more pros an cons before i decide to buy. Thanx peace

The Megan is straight thru, though. Yes it does have a resonater, but it just there to tone down the raspiness. With a couple of the 42002 anti-foulers I have had no issues. Rattle, CEL or otherwise.

also with the T1R you can put the oem shield back on so it'll look stock.
