They probably are. Pedal feel isn't the greatest during daily driving, but they're surprisingly good when you really get on them.

Dont forget that tires have a lot to do with your braking too...

working for a dealership 10 years I drove many differetn cars, drove with CR EH before he leaglly owned his CR.. I must say that the brakes in this car from the factory are great. I have done a few upgrades to mine recently only because mine in now 11 years old. I replaced the original rotors with Science of Speed directionally vaned J slots. Replaced the OEM brake lines with Goodridge SS lines and just to give good pedal feel I bought the LHT Performance Master Cylinder brace. I just went to the dragon and my brakes performed flawlessly the entir 1775 miles I put on my car those 4 days... to help my brakes with stopping I run Michelin Pilot PS2's

I nearly crashed my car within a baseball throw of my driveway. My town seems to have a large number of 4-way intersections where 1 road (north/south lanes for example) have the right of way, while the other lanes (east/west) have just a yield sign (not a stop sign). Well, a lot of people roll through stop signs so you can imagine how they treat the yield signs. I pulled out of the drive and accelerated a decent pace but nothing crazy (half-throttle max, no vtec, and not exceeding the speed limit). I am half of a block from my house, when a large Yukon or Suburban pulling a moving trailer decides to ignore the yield sign. I cram on the brakes and come to a stop a couple of feet short. Naturally, they look at me as if I was in the wrong.

Never really, actually it is the opposite really.

Very confidence inspiring car, relatively easy to drive past your skills, no stability control anywhere to be found, and brakes that actually are good but not great. It's handling is the only thing that can save me, and I have never seen a real world issue where this superb quality has helped me in an emergency situation.

My old Ms3 had powerful brakes and saved my ass a few times, that thing was like dropping an anchor down compared to the S.

Maybe you should consider upgrading to an AP2?

And a brake service might be a good idea considering the age of your car (that is if you havent already done so)

The Ap1 is right for me, I am just stating my experience. : ) This car has the potential to get me into more trouble than saving me.

My car was recently checked over by Billman, and does have all new super blue fluids etc. Brakes are better than new.

Just sayin, compared to other cars I have owned, this cars brakes are not as strong stock and has nothing really to save my ass outside of it's amazing agility/handing.
