Thanks, Big Ben: Here
300 for gears is darn cheap. I remember when J's was the only one offering these gears for 1k. Try to get a warranty out of those guys.
Regardless, I ordered my 4.77 from Rick and got them the same week, FROM JAPAN. i unfortunately paid a lot more for them
Thanks Rick

There is nothing intrinsically weaker about these gears compared to the Mazda supplied 4.11 gears that come in the car stock - regardless of what car Mazda used them in.
The 4.11 gears in the S2K are most likely the exact same gears in the FD3S - and it takes a lot of power and a solid unsprung clutch disc to break the FD's differential.
Don't drive the car like an idiot and you won't have any issues.

I'd let someone molest my sister before my car!
according to rick's post, it basically boils down to whether or not you want to PAY for a warranty, correct?
in other words, he's not GIVING a warranty, but rather you have to BUY a warranty......

So, where is the thread that Big Ben created?
I don't think it is quite time to consider the 4.10, 4.33, 4.44, and 4.77s inferior yet. You can't really call them inferior until there is an alternative that is proven better. The 4.57 gears from Richmond Gear are expected to be stronger, but that has not yet been proven, has it?
Differentials are normally very strong units. Their internal gears are very small considering the size of the ring gear. They are also super hard metal. The R & P is much cheaper than the actual diff. A replacement diff can cost you over $1000.
