Default Thanx S2kI and Members

Had a problem with my check engine light for a little while now. I had a friend check it out with one of those code doohickees, so i knew it was the MAP sensor. I have tried resetting the computer about 3-4 times, and the CEL kept coming on after about 10 minutes of driving each time. I located a thread tonight about Tapping the Sensor, and i tried it. Went on a 30 minute test drive, and it seemed to solve the problem. I think it has, because i noticed a difference when i was driving.......anyways, to the point of this thread.
I have been looking around this sight since i bought my car in 2001. Almost everytime i have had a question, or problem, someone on this site has almost always assisted me.

What's the threat for tapping the sensor. I also tried to reset the ecu... same problem, CEL pop back after 10 mins.

Thats one of the great things about this place. No matter what your problem, someone's always there to help.

Spesrf25, you should register your VIN to become an Owner. There's a thread at the top of this forum on how to.

i tried to put my vin in, but it says it is not a valid vin, so i don't know what to do about it....i know it is good, i use it at the dealer all the time....oh well.

the check engine light came on again this morning, but i went to the dealership, and asked what it might be( i had the code). it was a vacuum line that was detached from the cai. i went to the auto store, bought some clamps, and reset the ecu, and viola, problem solved. it's still good to know the problem with the MAP sensor, though.

later

Did you buy a used car? If so, then the previous owner may have been registered on this site and thus the VIN is already entered. PM HondaGal with your VIN and she might be able to help you out. If you know who the last owner was, this will help her out.
