that's it....i quit...almost
My S came with dealer installed swirl marks too. I'm gonna have it cleaned a little, and wax the hell out of it. It's not as easy to tell on white cars, but like you guys, when it gets in the right light, I just frown!

By the way, I had a red Porsche 930 before the S2K and it suffered the exact same problem. It would look awesome until you got in direct afternoon sunlight. Then all the marks were visible. I think this is a common problem with all solid colors. There is no way that your car will be perfect unless you never drive it.
Hell, I take my car to the track. Obviously this is not the best place for a pristine showcar. This is why mine is not. Drive the hell out of it an enjoy it! I learned this from my good friend as we were blasting around in his new Ferrari F355 serie fiorano F1 convertible. It scrapes on driveways, gets little dings, etc. etc. because he drives it. It still looks awesome though.
At the end of the day, you need to enjoy your car. If keeping it perfect is what you enjoy, more power to you! However; you would not be getting the full goodness of the S2000!

Black is a PAIN to maintain. It does look fantastic when it's clean/semi-clean. But how often is that? Especially in areas where it rains alot. I remember cleaning/waxing my Prelude only to see a film of dirt/dust just from driving it to the grocery store. And no matter how you clean/wax/polish/etc, it will ALWAYS show swirls and imperfections if you drive it daily. It's just a fact....no ways around it. You can have it buffed at a pro detailer shop like I did, but the swirls will be back in a couple of hand washes. And I don't recommend machine buffing. To me, the only advantages of machine buffing are speed and agressiveness. It's great for heavily oxidized/older cars but not on newer cars. All you can do is to live with it and wash/wax it regularly.
