is it possible to prevent tear that is common on some of the 00 01 tops?

I'm thinking of getting some on that adhesive weather stripping stuff and put it around the edge of the plastic piece that causes the wear.

I'll try when I get a chance. It's a piece of flat, hard plastic that has a curved corner that rubs against the top when it's down. You can feel it pretty easily with your hands.
